Denai Alam is a unique township in Shah Alam, which is planned based on the 'Denai' concept. The 'Denai' is a 4.8km landscaped footpaths for pedestrians and non-motorized vehicles.

    Analysis

    The 'Denai' concept used in the development of Denai Alam has won it an award of 2003 Planning Innovation Award by the Malaysian Institute of Planners. The main purpose of this concept is to hark back the Kampung-style living, which emphasizes the communal living among the citizens.

    The 'Denai' is created for the ease of traveling among the neighborhoods within the area of Denai Alam. In spite of creating the Kampung living style, houses and facilities within this neighborhood are all with modern trappings. Hence, Denai Alam is definitely a good place for one to stay harmony with family and neighbors, since it encourages the communal interaction.

    Denai Alam is a new development area and has a population of approximately 1,000 residents only. Besides, there is currently no public transport to be accessed within this township unless at the nearby suburb which is Bukit Subang. There are RapidKL buses with the route of Subang Perdana accessible there.

    However, it is expected the population of Denai Alam will increase to 35,000, and more amenities will be built within this area. For example, mosque, police station, fire station, two community halls, primary schools and secondary schools will be built when the development is totally completed.
