SS1 (also known as Kampung Tunku) is an established residential precinct within Petaling Jaya vicinity. It is among the oldest housing estate of Petaling Jaya. The entire parcel houses a total of 1,558 residential houses. They comprise 998 units of one and double storey bungalow and also apartment blocks.
There are several amenities available within SS1 to serve the residents, including a multi-purpose hall, a town hall park and a post office. Not only that, there is a school nestled in the enclave named SRK Kampung Tunku, and few schools nearby including SMK Sri Permata, SMK Taman SEA, SMK (P) Seri Aman, SRJK © Sungei Way, SRK Sri Kelana and SRK Kelana Jaya 1 and 2.
Also, there is a mosque located in SS1, called Inarul Islam Mosque. There are also temples in SS9A for Buddhist and SS8 for Hindu. For recreational activity, most residents love to take a walk at Taman Aman, located right next to Taman Paramount LRT station, which is beautifully landscaped. For shopping, rows of shop lots can be found within SS1 for everyday needs. There is also a wet market and Plaza Seri Setia located in Sungei Way, which approximately 700 meters from SS1.
Plus, it is just next to Section 51A commercial and industrial area that locates numerous factories and commercial centres. Accessibility wise, SS1 can be easily accessed via Lebuhraya Damansara-Puchong (LDP) and Federal Highway. It is approximately just 10 minutes driving to Section 14 commercial hub and Sunway. In addition, it is also within walking distance to Taman Paramount RapidKL LRT station.
All houses in SS1 are very old, even though some look brand new as they have been renovated by the owner to increase the value. Prices of these houses are hovering from RM1 million while the renovated ones are asking for around RM2.5 million up to near RM3 million.
Kampung Tunku is a great place to live as the neighborhood is serene and peaceful unlike other Petaling Jaya estates like SS2 and SS21, where one can find a lot of cars buzzing around every single minute. Besides that, its resident association is strong here and always stand behind residents’ rights.
